Hoover, J. Edgar, Rudy Giuliani & Mobster Mickey Cohen; Three Signed Books by Tarnished Men. Thee autographed books 1.) J. Edgar Hoover, Masters of Deceit, Henry Holt And Company, 1958, First Edition. Very clean dust jacket with a nick or two to the edges. The book itself, fine with deep red cloth covered boards clean, spine squared and rigid, with gold lettering on spine and front cover very bright. J. Edgar Hoover has signed in steel point blue fountain pen ink on loose endpaper. 2.) Mobster Mickey Cohen, In My Own Words Prentice-Hall Inc., Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, 1975. With original dust jacket in good condition with minor evidence of wear and minor paper loss. Cream cloth covered boards having very minimum discoloration at edges otherwise printing on spine clean. Inscribed and signed "Most Sincerely, Mickey Cohen" in ball point pen on loose endpaper. Cohen died in Los Angeles in 1976. 3.) Rudy Giuliani, Leadership Hyperion, New York, 2002, First Edition. Both dust jacket and book pristine and unread. Giuliani has signed in blue felt tip pen on the title page. Estimated Value $800 - UP

Kennedy, Ted, Ethel Kennedy and Miscellaneous Political Ephemera. Ted Kennedy TLS, one-page, on U.S. Senate letterhead, Aug. 15, 1974, to Buddy Hackett, regretting that he cannot be at the Friars Club tribute to Johnny Carson. Ethel Kennedy TLS, one page, on Hickory Hill letterhead, Oct. 1971, to actress Joan Crawford, thanking her for flowers ("I can understand why you are a legend"). With holograph salutation and closing. Muriel Humphrey, TLS, one page, on personal stationery, Nov. 20, 1968, telling Mr. Lynch, "The Vice President and I were happy to autograph the picture you sent." Also, a one-page ALS by Harriet S. Blaine, daughter of statesman James G. Blaine, to Senator Francis Cockrell (a former Confederate Brig. Gen.), n.d. (pre 1905) saying it was important that she see him. These items are all in fine condition. Additionally, a group of inaugural ephemera--programs, invitations, etc., primarily for Eisenhower, but also Kennedy and Nixon, as well as Reagan as governor; condition is about very good. Kennedy, Edward Moore; Typed Letter Signed as US Senator to Actor Peter Lawford Regarding a Living Memorial to Robert Kennedy, 1968 (1932-2009) Ted Kennedy served as a US Senator from Massachusetts for 47 years and witnessed many of the defining moments in US politics and his own family's personal tragedies from the 1960s to his death from brain cancer. Peter Lawford was an English/American actor and contract player at MGM who later became part of the "Rat Pack" and was the brother-in-law of John, Robert and Ted Kennedy. In this letter dated Sept. 16, 1968, Ted Kennedy has sent him an outline on a living memorial "for Bob" and says that he wants Lawford to know all the decisions made prior to going public. Kennedy has initialed in black fiber-tip marker. On United States Senate letterhead, letter has even toning throughout where it was once framed and proudly displayed. 8 x 6" Letter of Authenticity by James Spence. Estimated Value $175 - UP

(Kennedy, Robert F.) Seven 8 x 10" Photographs of RFK Attending a Rhode Island Citizen's Committee Dinner in 1965. Seven double-weight, 8 x 10" black and white photographs, each including Robert F. Kennedy (1923-68), who had served as U.S. Attorney General from January 1961 to September 1964, and was a newly-elected U.S. senator from New York at the time of the April 24, 1965 dinner given by the Rhode Island Citizens' Committee. The honoree was Congressman John E. Fogarty (1913-67), who represented Rhode Island's 2nd District in the United States House of Representatives for 26 years, from 1941 until his death. RFK and Fogarty are in all of the photos, along with other people who attended the dinner. Fogarty was from an Irish family. He worked across the aisle to promote health care and became known as "Mr. Public Health" for his dedication to federal support for medical research and a broad range of health programs. In 1964 he received the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation award, and used the proceeds to establish the John E. Fogarty Foundation for the Mentally Retarded. Estimated Value $600 - UP

Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1967. Hardcover. Condition: Collectible overall near fine condition. Dust jacket near fine with the most minimal of edge wear to spine. Book is firm and square, boards near fine with only blemish a red dot of paint to back lower left corner and the pages bright and clean. Kennedy inscribed "With Best Wishes, Robert F. Kennedy in black fine point, fiber tip marker. Book is a collection of essays from speeches, travels and experiences as Attorney General and a US Senator Book on youth, race, nuclear control, the Vietnam War and more. (U.S. Senate History) Mike Mansfield and Everett M. Dirksen Write A Caring Letter to Their Colleague Jennings Randolph. Back in the good old days of pre-polarization, there existed a time when Democratic and Republican members of Congress debated during the day and socialized as friends the same evening. Here is a one-of-a-kind typed letter signed by Senate Majority Leader Mike Mansfield and Minority Leader Everett M. Dirksen, one page, 10½ x 8", Aug. 24, 1966, to their West Virginia colleague, Jennings Randolph. In their own fun and scholarly way, Mansfield and Dirksen beseech Randolph to visit Capitol Hill physician Dr. George Calver for an annual check-up, noting that both of them have had recent health scares. A classic piece of U.S. Senate history when impartiality and personal decency were important values. A crease and faint stamp in the upper right corner do not affect the message or the item's otherwise fine condition. Estimated Value $400 - UP

Balance of Consignment: Free Frank signed by Daniel Webster, 1880 Land Grant and an 1896 Issue of Le Rire with art by Tououse-Lautrec. Three interesting lots. 1.) Free Frank signed "Daniel Webster, US. Senate" which would be between the years of 1845 -1850. He has signed in upper right corner to an Isiah Willliam Waverly 5 x 7" somewhat fragile. Also includes an exceptional engraving of the statesman and acclaimed orator who was the 14th and 19th Secretary of State. 2.) Extremely fine land grant dated 1880, County of Suffolk England of a woman, R. A. Chenery selling her property to a Frederick Whisstock. 20 x 28 on vellum and in pristine condition. 3.) Legendary humor magazine printed in France, frequently provocative as can be seen in the full panel illustration of explorer Henry Morton Stanley riding on the shoulders of as shritless African in the company of swells. But the back page is a fine tinted illustration by Toulouse-Loutrec "Les Grands Concerts de L'Opéra". Estimated Value $200 - UP
